In this post, you can re requirements needed for Court translator position. The standard job requirements includes: education/knowledge, skills, abilities (KSA model, core competency), experience, license, qualities, training courses, physical requirements, degree or certificates…

I. Key qualifications/requirements

  1. A Bachelor's degree (preferably in language translation, or another related field) from a U.S. or recognized foreign university and two years of translation experience, state or federal interpreter certification; certification from a professional translators' association (e.g., ATA certification) is also required;
  2. Knowledge of: the U.S. legal system, primarily so as to ensure comprehension prior to translating; the specialized vocabulary and terms used in the judicial environment; standard grammar for English and Spanish;
  3. Ability to use software such as MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Access), Adobe desktop publishing;
  4. Skill in: translating complex and lengthy legal documents from English to Spanish and documents from Spanish to English, and office administration. Ability to: read and write English and Spanish equally well; translate and interpret fluently from English to Spanish and vice versa; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; work independently with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality;
  5. Ability to manage projects according to guidelines and quality standards, with ability to meet established court timelines;
  6. Ability to maintain accurate and timely records including, but not limited to, data entry and collection of data;
  7. Ability to establish work priorities and to work independently;
  8. Ability to serve the public and others with business before the court in a courteous and professional manner; Ability to accept feedback and maintain flexibility in terminology choices;
  9. Excellent communication and writing skills in English and Spanish and stringent attention to detail;
  10. Ability to travel to court locations throughout the Commonwealth.
  11. Preferred experience: Three or more years of legal experience. Experience in translation project management is also preferred.
